№004 of 08The test print

Grind.

The maker

Trusts the rough edit over the clean one.

Grind - The maker
Make it. Then make it again. ·Make it. Then make it again. ·Make it. Then make it again. ·Make it. Then make it again. ·

.01 - Field notes

Grind has version 14. Version 14 is uglier than version 3 and better than version 9. That's the work.

Grind doesn't believe in the muse. Grind believes in showing up, mis-registering the print, swearing once, and pulling another.

When Grind finally hands you the thing, it's because the thing is right. Not because the deadline came.

Habitat

A studio that smells like ink, coffee and yesterday.

Born for

People with twelve unfinished projects and one quiet conviction it'll be worth it.

.02 - The rules of grind

  • The test print is the truth.

The clean one is just marketing.

  • Show up before you feel like it.

Inspiration is a reward for being there.

  • Finish the ugly one.

Done teaches you more than perfect ever will.

Nemesis

The 'I'll start when it's perfect' voice. (It is also Grind's voice. They're working on it.)

Signature move

A misaligned print you'd rather hang than the clean one.
